Falling in 3rd Person

Falling in 3rd Person

Here are some truths about falling through the cracks, she thought on her way down.

1.     Surprisingly it doesn’t happen all at once but in slow-motion

increments. (You’d think it’d be easy to climb out of a hole that way. But it’s not.)

2.     At some point you become terribly aware of

not only what could be happening but that in fact it is.

3.     You honestly don’t know what’s worse:

that you can’t see the bottom or that no one is waiting for you on top.

(Discuss.)

4.     Landing will hurt, she thought.

Almost as much as falling.
