Through Lightning and Rain

Through Lightning and Rain

When Blake was six, I told her and her friend thunder was clouds bumping into each other.

Blake bumped into her friend and said boom, laughing through the storm.

Last night, coming back from Harrisburg, Blake called— she had flown to Florida to visit her boyfriend.

For an hour and a half, from the airport during a storm, she wanted my reassurance as she navigated home.
